Britt Bass and epic-ness

This is the first in my series on creatives and their spaces.

I had the opportunity to photograph Britt Bass in her studio at the Goat Farm in Atlanta this past weekend, and y'all... Britt's talent and aesthetic is rare. Look at all this beauty you guys. She is so incredibly gifted. Seeing her paintings in person, being in the space itself, and being able to shoot in this incredible place was such a gift to me.

Later this past week, as I was sitting here at my computer, editing the images, listening to Explosions in the Sky, I was blown away, watching the drama unfold of this beautiful woman making her art, totally and completely in her element. I realized that though this is uniquely her-- in some ways, this is so much like all of us. If we could see the beauty of our lives and the value of what we have and can do, see it in stills or video, set to music, I think we would be overcome with how precious this life is and what amazing things we get to make, see, do. I want to see that beauty everyday. In my mothering, in my own work, in my friendships, in the day to day maintenance of my home, in everything. I hope that in sharing this and how it impacted me it has a similar impact on you. This life is epic. Let's savor it. Let's record these moments where the heavens open and we see past the regrets, failures, pain and pressing need to do more and be more... and we see the beautiful drama unfolding, and how ridiculously gracious it is that we get to be taking part in it.

To see more of her work or purchase a piece or a few, go her site, brittbass.com.

Love to y'all.
